Bella Tuscany Italian Restaurant in Orlando

The Best Culinary Delicacies of Italy—Now in the Magical Town of Windermere, Florida

There are hidden gems in Central Florida and as a Foodie I am very excited to have come across this amazing Italian restaurant located in the town of Windermere. For starters, Windermere is known for its exclusive Isleworth gated community, home to Orlando’s rich and famous. Windermere is also known for its pristine town center, reminiscent of the wholesome neighborhoods of yesteryears. However, from now on you should know that Windemere should be synonymous with the finest Italian fare—and you can find at Bella Tuscany Ristorante Italiano.

Bella Tuscany is tucked away between lakes, upscale neighborhoods and some of Central Florida’s most picturesque views, which set the mood for a wonderful lunch or dinner as you drive up to this fine-yet-casual Italian restaurant. The moment you arrive, there is no doubt that you have arrived at a little piece of Italy on the other side of the ocean. In fact, proprietor and general manager Carlos has ensured his Italian heritage is well represented with the amazing décor, lively background music and of course, a menu that covers every corner of the Italian boot.

But enough about the look and feel of the restaurant; let’s talk about the food and the wine—the true reason why I went to Bella Tuscany. Yours truly has traveled extensively around the globe and Italy has been one of my preferred vacation destinations quite a few times, allowing me to experience all major Italian regions and their food. Bella Tuscany offers you a true tour of Italy from the appetizers to the dessert and everything else in between. Before we even asked for what the specialty of the house may be, the fresh Italian bread and balsamic oil dip arrive and at that point it was clear this was going to be a good night… A very good and delicious night.

We started our Italian tour with the Antipasto or their signature Bella Bruschetta, featuring grille portabella topped with sautéed onions, tomato, provolone cheese, red peppers, and boursin cheese. I can assure you that if you are still hungry after this, Bella Tuscany’s fried calamari tastes like heaven; but don’t stop there. And if your group is large enough, add the Polpetta Napolitana (stuffed meatballs) for an amazing grand opening for your meal. By this time, the Italian music playing overhead is making you tap your toes in anticipation for what’s to come. And yes, it got better… Much better as the night went on—and then came the wine.

Bella Tuscany has a wide selection of fine Italian wines, as well as a full-liquor bar with Italian favorites such as Prosecco, Sambucca and Amaretto. I sampled both a red house Chianti and white wine, both of which were suggested by Carlos, our host, whom I must add that was extremely knowledgeable about the wine and was right on the spot with our selection. He mentioned that another favorite of Bella Tuscany customers is their Limoncello, which is always present at any celebration where his guests want to kick up a notch the excitement of the night. By now, we are hungry—very hungry—and it is time to order our main course.

Ordering an entrée is where things start to get really interesting at Bella Tuscany. I am still cheering for the amazing Penne Alla Vodka, which I must say it is the absolute best I’ve ever had and have since gone back after my initial visit for an encore of this superb Italian dish. I would not dare come to Bella Tuscany without my wife, which gave me a chance to order more entrees to sample and with that said, next on our dinner experience was the Chicken Saltimbocca. The best way I can describe this dish is an ‘explosion of flavor’ on something you can’t imagine to every have such complexity, such as chicken. Do know that the Saltimbocca is also served with veal at Bella Tuscany. Whatever they have done with this dish, it is simply ‘bellísimo’.

Bella Tuscany offers additional Italian specialties on their menu, including pizza, flat breads, a wide variety of pasta, as well as chicken, veal and other meats in a wide variety of styles, such as Parmigiana, Marsala or Milanese. The Fettucine Carbonara is another favorite at Bella Tuscany, along with the Penne Arrabiata. All of these can be coupled with a side of grilled shrimp, polenta, meatballs with marinara sauce, or grilled asparagus. No matter what your menu choice may be, you are sure to be impressed with Bella Tuscany’s entrees, all of which are great ambassadors to this restaurant’s Italian heritage.

Once you are satisfied beyond your Italian dreams, Bella Tuscany still has something in store for you, ranging from sweet delight to absolute decadence. We sampled a variety of Italian-inspired desserts, which we coupled with their amazing Cappuccino, made with authentic Lavazza Italian espresso—the way it should be brewed. The Cannoli was fresh and made us cry out “Mamma Mía” at the first bite, but what followed was an amazing Flute Lemocello gelato to die for. Believe it or not, that was not the highlight of the Italian tour since their homemade Tiramisu was the star of this dessert experience. The portion for this dessert was excellent for two people and the taste superb, allowing us to end the evening with a smile in our face and a feeling of satisfaction after eating as if we were Italian royalty.

After this amazing dinner on a Friday evening, you would think that guests of Bella Tuscany would be satisfied enough and ready to go home or their hotels. When we arrived at Bella Tuscany we saw their patio being set up for what the locals consider to be one of the best evening outings in town. Needless to say, we saw guitars, amplifiers, microphones, and many people enjoying drinks outside. By the time we were leaving, Bella Tuscany’s outside patio and bar area was crowded with patrons listening to a guitar duo who was doing an amazing job playing Gipsy King-style music. We asked Carlos once again about this live performance and he said this is one of the highlights of the restaurant every weekend as he brings these performers to entertain and delight with their vibrant music. We simply loved it and will be coming back for more Italian dinners while continuing to sample the delights of Bella Tuscany Ristorante Italiano in Windermere, Florida.
